Abstract

|
This sudy is to observe the circadian. variation of chicken liver phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (EC 4.1.1.32) activity and to analyse the influence¢¥ of fasting, actinomyciin D, and glucc:~e. The results obtained were summeiized as follows;
1. The enzyme activity generally exhibited annual rhythr.~ic variation with the high activity in the cold season (Dec. -Apr.) and the low activity in the hct season(May-Vov. ), thcugh tpe ranges of the activity were broad:
2. The enzyme also showed a diurnal variation with a crest at 0800 aad trough at 20~~, though the amplitude varied with the season.
3. The circadian rhythm of the enzyrne activity varied in reversed phas;, with fasting ^r cLanges of feeding time. Cirdadian increase of tl~e enzymE~ activity vas inhibtied by actinomycin D and glucose.
